*It extends from NH-35 at Gonda village near Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot district to near Kudrail village in Etawah district, where it merges with the Agra-Lucknow expressway.

5. The 10th class examination result of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will be declared today evening at 5 O'clock. The result will be uploaded to the website of the CISCE.

1. An affidavit filed by the Gujarat Police’s SIT has said Teesta Setalvad was part of a “larger conspiracy” carried out at the behest of late Congress leader Ahmed Patel to dismiss the Gujarat government after the 2002 riots.

Setalvad was arrested in June, along with former IPS officers RB Sreekumar and Sanjiv Bhatt, for allegedly fabricating evidence to frame innocent people in Gujarat riots cases.

1. The defence ministry has set up an apex committee to conduct "performance and efficiency" audit of capital procurements, logistics, inventory and maintenance of assets of the armed forces.

2. *AFTER US WAIVES SANCTIONS, INDIA CAN NOW PURCHASE S-400 MISSILE DEFENCE SYSTEM FROM RUSSIA* : The US House of Representatives has passed by voice vote a legislative amendment that approves waiver to India against the punitive CAATSA sanctions for its purchase of the S-400 missile defence system from Russia to help deter aggressors like China.

3. *FRANCE HAS DELIVERED ALL 36 RAFALE JETS TO INDIA:* 

India and France had signed a €7.87 billion inter-governmental agreement (IGA) in September 2016 for 36 jets. 35 jets have arrived in India, while one remains in France. But

French Envoy in India, Emmanuel Lenain, said on the sidelines of the French National Day celebrations on Thursday that France has delivered all 36 Rafale fighter jets to India.

4. Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is in the process of constructing 15 warships for the Indian Navy and one for the Indian Coast Guard and is hopeful of delivering the project by FY27. A P17A stealth frigate ‘Dunagiri’, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders Limited (GRSE).

The shipyard also bagged two orders for export via international competitive bidding, including one ocean-going passenger and cargo vessel for Guyana and six patrol boats for Bangladesh. GRSE is exploring new projects in friendly foreign countries to grow exports.

1. India and Indonesia on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bali on the sidelines of the G20 meeting, to cooperate on a number of issues including payment systems and combating terror financing.

"Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Bank Indonesia (BI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 16, 2022 in Bali, Indonesia.

2. The Bangladesh Government has appointed Mustafizur Rahman as the next High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India.

1. The World Bank on 16 Jul approved a 500 million USD credit to help Bangladesh improve disaster preparedness against inland flooding in 14 flood-prone districts benefiting over 1.25 million people.

3. Russia's Defence Ministry on Saturday said that the Russian forces have been ordered to step up operations in Ukraine. The order aims to prevent Ukraine from launching strikes on Ukrainian areas under the Russian control.

4. China's gambling enclave Macao extended its COVID-19 lockdown by another five days on Saturday as it battles one of the biggest virus outbreaks in two years. Now industries and commercial companies will remain closed until July 23.

5. At least 31 people were killed and 39 others were injured in tribal clashes in a southern province of Sudan on Saturday.

6. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told President Joe Biden that the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi was "a painful episode for Saudi Arabia and that it was a terrible mistake", according to a Saudi minister. Salman said that the US has also made mistakes, citing America's involvement in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the minister said.

7. China's President Xi Jinping asked officials to step up efforts to uphold the principle that Islam in China must be Chinese in orientation. Religions in China should adapt to the socialist society being pursued by the government, he said. Notably, China is accused of carrying out a crackdown on Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.

5. The World Athletics Championships begun in Eugene from Friday. The tournament will continue till the 24th of July. The 2022 Championships is the 18th edition and the US is hosting the most prestigious event for the first time. The 10-day grand sporting event will host 2,000 athletes representing more than 200 nations.

6. *Commonwealth Games 2022, list released* : The Indian Olympic Association on Saturday announced a 322-strong contingent including 215 athletes and 107 officials and support staff for the Commonwealth Games 2022. The Games are scheduled to be held in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8. Some prominent Indian athletes include include Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Mirabai Chanu, Lovlina Borgohain, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Kumar Dahiya.

🇮🇳 *FACTS ABOUT INDIA* 🇮🇳

 Shaniwar Wada is a historical fortification in the city of Pune, India.

Peshwa Baji Rao I, prime minister to Chattrapati Shahu, laid the ceremonial foundation of his own residence on Saturday, 10 January 1730. It was named Shaniwar Wada from the Marathi words Shaniwar (Saturday) and Wada (a general term for any residence complex). Teak was imported from the jungles of Junnar, stone was brought from the nearby quarries of Chinchwad, and Lime (mineral) was brought from the lime-belts of Jejuri. Shaniwarwada was completed in 1732, at a total cost of Rs. 16,110, a very large sum at that time.

The Shaniwar Wada was normally the seven-story capital building of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. It was supposed to be made entirely of stone but after the completion of the base floor or the first story, the people of Satara (the national capital) complained to the Shahu (King) saying that a stone monument can be sanctioned and built only by the Shahu (King) himself and not the Peshwas. 

Following this, an official letter was written to the Peshwas stating that the remaining building had to be made of brick and not stone. Even today if you visit and see the walls carefully, they are partly made of stone and partly by bricks. 

The Wada was then completed and upon being attacked by the British Artillery 90 years later, all the top six stories collapsed leaving only the stone base, which was immune to the British artillery.

 Hence only the stone base of the Shaniwar Wada remains and can be seen even today in the older parts of Pune.

By 1758, at least a thousand people lived in the fort. On 27 February 1828, a great fire started inside the palace complex. The conflagration raged for seven days. Only the heavy granite ramparts, strong teak gateways and deep foundations and ruins of the buildings within the fort survived.

LPG inside the cylinder weighs 19kg . The internal volume of the cylinder is 44.5 litres . The LPG is a mixture of propane gas (60%) and butane (40%) .

When Brahma was creating the universe, He made a female deity known as *Shatarupa* (one with a hundred beautiful forms). Brahma became immediately infatuated with Her. Shatarupa moved in various directions to avoid the gaze of Brahmā. But wherever She went, Brahma developed a head. Thus, Brahma developed five heads, one on each side and one above the others. In order to control Brahma, Shiva cut off one of the heads. Also, Shiva felt that Shatarupa was Brahmā's daughter, having been created by Him. Therefore, Shiva determined, it was wrong for Brahmā to become obsessed with Her. He directed that there be no proper worship on earth for the "unholy" Brahmā. 

According to another legend, Brahma is not worshiped because of a curse by the great sage Brahmarishi Bhrigu. Once a great fire-sacrifice (yajna) was being organised on Earth with Bhrigu being the high priest. It was decided that the greatest among all Gods would be made the presiding deity. Bhrigu then set off to find the greatest among the Trimurti. When he went to Brahma, he was so immersed in the music played by Saraswati that he could hardly hear Bhrigu's calls. The enraged Bhrigu then cursed Brahma that no person on Earth would ever invoke him or worship him again. 

There are very few temples dedicated to Brahma alone : Pushkar temple in Rajasthan
